I told you I was going to air my dirty laundry with you, so here it goes…dirty laundry or laundry in general is my nemesis. I dread all aspect of it except the actual washing and drying. My laundry “room” is in the hallway entry of my house. When I bring the clothes from upstairs, since the “room” is nothing more than the place where the washer and dryer live, I have laundry in my entry way. Since I work full time outside the home and home work and kids’ after school activities consume my evenings, the weekends are full of laundry. It gets rather embarrassing when people stop by on the weekend and see my underwear in baskets by the front door. Then there comes the timing. Washing the clothes is not hard, but making sure that I’m there when the load ends to promptly move it to the dryer and then even MORE promptly pull it out of the dryer before the wrinkles set in is the tricky part. Of course next comes the folding. This in general isn’t always so bad, it’s actually a chance to sit down in front of the TV fora few moments, however, I despise matching up socks. I am pretty sure there is a black hole in my washing machine and dryer. It is my firm belief that socks should be disposable, wear them once and throw them in the trash, never to be matched during laundry time again. J
Phew, the laundry is all done, right? Nope, we now have to get it all back upstairs. This is normally done late Sunday afternoon just before we start preparing for the school/work week ahead. I can’t tell you how many times we have not had time to get the laundry actually put away and we end up searching through baskets of clothes for socks, underwear and that certain pair of pants we need. By the time I have time to actually put the laundry away, most things are no longer properly folded and I waste time re-folding items AND it’s time to do this whole routine over again.
I’m DONE. I simply can’t function like this anymore so I have been searching for a solution. I found this really blogger on Pinterest. Of course, I lost the pin, maybe I didn’t pin it at all, who knows. Here is the premise. Do laundry every day! What??? How could that be, I hate laundry. This actually makes sense though. If you have small loads, they are easier to fold and put a way! Do a small load every day….My hope is to get ALL my laundry done this weekend and start fresh on Monday. I said that LAST week and it just didn’t workout. I will let you know next week how this turns out.
Update: I finally found the link to the blog that suggested daily laundry! I'll share her story with you in hopes that she can inspire you too. Let me know what you think of my method and I'm open to any suggestions to amend my situation!
